Dean Dorothy J. Hamilton

Dorothy J. Hamilton has been married to Rev. Willie J. Hamilton for almost 49 years and is the mother of three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

    She is a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and serves under the leadership of Pastor Robert Smith, Jr.  Dean Hamilton is active in her District, BM&E State and National Baptist Conventions, where she has served in numerous capacities.

  Her educational endeavors include a Bachelor and Master's Degreee in Education from Marygrove and University of Detroit Mercy respectively.  She is a former public elementary school teacher.  Dorothy retired as a College Professor from Henry Ford College and Adjunct College Professor at Wayne State University. 

    She has additionally served as Dean of a Christian Leadership School which offered the entire C.O.P.P. in less than six months, taught solely by she and her husband!

Dean Denise Gipson-Tyiska

​Dean Denise Gipson Tyiska is a Christian Educator and life-long learner!  She utilizes her gift of teaching at her home church, District Association and both BM&E and Wolverine State Baptist Congresses.  Jesus commanded us to go make disciples and teach them!  Dean Tyiska has been a certified Instructor/Dean of National Baptist Convention, USA since 2013 and 2018, respectfully.  Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11!

   Dean Tyiska holds both Bachelors in Sociology and Masters Degree in Sociological Research from Western Michigan University, and Specialization in Race and Ethnicity and Sociology of Education.

She is a retired educator from Western Michigan and Cornell Universities and also a semi-retired non-profit grantwriter.

Pastor Marcelle T. Smith

Marcelle T. Smith was born in Shreveport, LA.  He received his primary schooling in Nashville, Tn and his secondary schooling in Saginaw, MI, graduating in 2004 with Honors from Arthur Hill High School.

  He attended Florida A& M University, as a Presidental Scholar, where he graduated (2009) magna cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Master's Degree in Business Administration. Marcelle served in various leadership roles in the School of Business & Industry.  He also attended Vanderbilt University, where he earned a Master's of Divinity Degree with a focus in Black Church Studies.  He has completed studies at Princeton Theological Seminary as a fellow of their Black Theology and Leadership Institute.

  Marcelle has worked for Saginaw Future, Inc. as a Procurement Specialist and the Great Lakes Loons baseball team as an Account Executive for Ticket Sales.  Formerly, he served at Mt. Zion Baptist church in Nashville, TN as an assistant to Bishop Joseph W.Walker III and in Christian Education, as the Special Assistant to the Senior Pastor at Triumph Church in Detroit, MI.  He has also served at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, where he served in the following capacities: Usher's Ministry, Youth Church leader, Vacation Bible School Director, and currently the Executive Minister.   

  In addition, Marcelle currently serves as the Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Bay City, MI  and was appointed as the 1st Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education for the Baptist, Missionary, and Educational (BM&E) Convention of the State of Michigan as well as 2nd Vice President of the Saginaw Valley Baptist District Association Congress of Christian Education.  

  Pastor Smith believes in living out his faith in service to his community.  He serves on the Board of Directors of Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitant for Humanity, the Board of Directors of Restoration Community Outreach (RCO), as a spiritual and theological care consultant for McKissick Health and Wellness, LLC, with the Food Access Collaboration Team of Saginaw County (FACTS), Bay County Human Services Collaboration Council (HSCC), and the Bay County Food Connection.

  Marcelle is joyfully married to Jennifer and they are the grateful parents of Josiah Timothy and Jabari Trevelle.

Dean Theresa Doyle

​Dean Theresa Doyle is a native of Detroit, Michigan who now resides in Bridgeport.  A graduate of Detroit's Cass Technical High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and communications from Wayne State University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Saginaw Valley State University. 

  She is also a graduate of the Black Family Institute of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and participates in the Baptist MIssionary and Educational State Congress where she serves as the faculty coordinator and the dean of address. She also chairs the Political Action and Social Justice committee of the BM&E State Convention.  She also serves as the Dean of Record for the Saginaw Valley Baptist District Congress of Christian Education.

  A devout Christian, Mrs. Doyle serves in various capacities at the Historic Second Baptist Church of Bay City where her husband, the late Rev. Seth R. Doyle, pastored for 32 years.  She is the organizer of the Power Teens and Tots Puppet Ministry, adviser to the Dorcas Women's Ministry, chair of the Scholarship Commission, a Sunday School teacher, and Dean of the Second Baptist Christian Leaderdship Institute.

  Mrs. Doyle's most memorable work is serving as an ambassador for youth.  In 1991, she took a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and, in 1993, she led a group of puppeteers to Zimbabwe, Africa to minister at the Baptist World Youth Alliance.  She has led groups to Japan, The Bahamas, Canada, Amsterdam, and Paris.  In February 2023, Mrs. Doyle participated in the Teach the Teachers Mission in Monrovia, Liberia, where she also led a discussion among pastors about "The Role of the Pastor's Wife."

  A concerned and dedicated educator, Mrs. Doyle served as an administrator in higher education, and taught English in the Detroit, Beecher, Bay City, and Buena Vista school districts.  She served as a building principal in the Buena Vista School District for eleven years and retired in 2010.

  Mrs. Doyle is very active in the Bay City and Saginaw communities.  She is a member of the Saginaw Valley Baptist District Ministers' Wives and Widows, the Saginaw Branch of the NAACP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Eta Upsilon Omega Chapter, and the Saginaw Association of Pan Africans.

  Dean Theresa Doyle is a mother and a grandmother.  Her life's aim is to help young people to become ambassadors for Christ, and her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28; "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called

Dean Jheri Draves

Dean Jheri Draves is a native of Bay City.  A graduate of Saginaw HIgh School, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Business Administration from Benedictine College in Atchinson, Kansas.

  Dean Draves found Jesus Christ at an early age and is a strong believer of Christian Education.  She is highly active in the Bay City community.  She is a member of the Historic Second Baptist Church, the Bay City Branch of the NAACP, and Saginaw Valley Baptist District Deaconess.  Sis. Draves is certified by the Sunday School Publishing Board as an instructor for the local, state, and national Congresses of Christian Education.  She currently serves as Dean of Second Baptist Christian Leadership Institute and Associate Dean of the Saginaw Valley Baptist District Congress.

  Sis. Draves is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  One of her favorite scriptures is Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."  

  Finally, Dean Draves wants people to see her light shine for Jesus by spreading His good news and by helping someone along the way.
